Top Ten Tummy Toning Tips for Tubbies

This is work in progress but I love the title – so will be doing my level best to make the article live up to it, whilst putting together a comprehensive list of sensible tips anyone can follow and apply

It won’t matter how beautifully toned your stomach is if nobody can see it under several inches of excess fat. You see, the sad truth about toning is that it doesn’t have a huge effect on body fat. No matter how toned your abs (abdominal muscles) are, the fat will hide them! So any toning plan which aims to leave you with a beautiful flat stomach, has to start with fat loss. Fortunately, there are some surprisingly easy exercises that you can do to not only burn away the fat, but also to tone those abs. As with any other endeavour though, you will achieve absolutely nothing unless you actually DO something, so be sure and read the the whole article and even more important, take action and apply what you learn here!

Fat Burning Exercises

Fat burning exercises which aim at “belly” fat (don’t like that word) aren’t necessarily directed just at working the abs (abdominal muscles), particularly in women, where the aim is toning rather than muccle building. What is needed is is exercise that exerts the body by undertaking intensive cardio or strength exercises that work combinations of muscle groups, rather than just the single target muscle group. This will work the body hard and burn lkots of calories and fat.

These are some popular strength exercises to burn fat:

Squats
Lunges
Step-ups
Push-ups
Chest presses
Shoulder thrusts

Quite obviously none of these exercises work the abs directly but they are extremely effective, as they burn a lot of stomach fat whilst also working the tummy indirectly, as the stomach muscles are used to stabilise the body while you’re doing these exercise routines.

It’s also a good idea to make your cardio exercise routines as intensive as possible.

Here are some effective routines:

Running
Rowing
Spinning
Jumping Rope

Belly Toning Exercises for women

While these abs focused exercises may not burn a lot of stomach fat, they do help to tone the abs. You don’t need to spend hours on these. 10 minutes each workout at the most. These belly exercises include:

The plank
Hanging leg raises
Bicycle crunches
Hip lifts
Reverse crunches
Captain chair leg raises
You need to focus more on fat burning exercises than you do on abs workouts since the key is to get as lean as possible. Once you do, your stomach will be flat. Toning it will then make it appear even firmer, but the biggest thing is to burn off the excess fat.
